IE's developers get app happy
With mobile browsing overtaking traditional desktop browsing this year, ensuring engagement with audiences on mobile is a top priority for all organisations. At IE, we have seen a huge increase in the amount of bespoke web and mobile applications we have been building in recent years, find out more about some of our latest projects below.
What is an app?
A mobile app, short for application, is a type of software designed to run on a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet. Mobile applications provide similar services for users to those accessed on desktop computers, but they are generally smaller and simpler than a desktop website. With five times as many smartphones purchased each day as babies born, it is now increasingly important that your organisation engages with the growing mobile generation.
So what’s IE’s experience in building apps?
Our Digital Creatives have crafted bespoke apps for a range of organisations, from the NHS to international charities, and sector skills councils to FE Colleges. This extensive mix of clients has also led to a wide portfolio of innovative apps and a depth of experience in IE’s development team.
HealthTouch — Our latest project to go live, HealthTouch, is an innovative app enabling patients to record and send key health measurements including blood pressure and heart rate direct to their doctor, allowing clinicians to monitor patients remotely and improving efficiency and patient experience.
LiveStats — For international client Christian Vision, with the ambitious aim to touch the lives of a billion by 2020, we built bespoke app LiveStats, a data dashboard, enabling Christian Vision to monitor, in real time users engaging with content across their 18 websites.
Moodometer — The 2gether NHS Foundation Trust commissioned IE to create an iPhone app to work as a self-management tool for people with low-level mental health issues. The app enabled users to record their mood on a daily basis, this information was then sent back to clinicians who could monitor patients remotely.
Big Splash Bernie — For Halesowen College, we built an app game aimed at school-leavers featuring the college mascot – Bernie the Gambian Pouch Rat. The viral game proved so popular, increasing website hits by 93%, that a second game was commissioned.
DiaryDoctor — At HETT 2013 we debuted DiaryDoctor, a white label patient monitoring and care management health sector app.
We have also built apps for Energy & Utility Skills, and are currently building an app for membership organisation Citizenship Foundation.
